Employee Development

What is employee development?

Employee development is the review of personal progress and expansion of an individual’s capacity to function effectively in his or her present or future job. This effort involves a joint, on-going commitment between the employee and supervisor to engage in learning and assessment. Successful employee development balances the needs between an employee’s current position in the organization with those needed for future development.

Benefits to employees and managers

Employee development programs make positive contributions to organizational performance and effectiveness. Both the workforce overall and the supervisor's workgroup accomplish more as employees gain in experience and knowledge.

Is your organization prepared to face these challenges?

High-performing and effective organizations proactively address employee development issues. Preparation allows for learning, rather than “reaction,” when these situations arise. Take a moment to reflect upon the following questions. How well equipped is your organization to address these typical employee development matters?
