Giving
or receiving payment for illegal service
|
It is against
Indiana law for the university to employ and pay a person when
that person is not performing duties related to the operation
of the Indiana University.
No employee
is to receive salary or wages from IU for work not related to
university business. It is unlawful for an employee to accept
payment in this situation.
Both the
employer (the supervisor) and the employee are subject to civil
and criminal penalties for violation of this law.

Assigning
or performing non-university work
|
It is unlawful
and a violation of university policy for a manager to assign
or for an employee to perform non-university work during working
hours.
It is the
responsibility of every staff member to report assignments unrelated
to university operations. Staff should report such assignments
to the next higher level of management or to Internal Audit.
